How many NBA Championship rings did Bill Russell win as a player?

The basketball world is home to a legend named Bill Russell. During the American civil turmoil, he participated in the NBA. When many in the African-American community had given up on the system, he was a ray of hope for them. In 13 seasons while playing for the Boston Celtics, he won 11 titles. He was the team’s defensive backbone and the loudest player on the court. He engaged in several illustrious one-on-one clashes with Wilt Chamberlain, most of which he won.

When did Bill Russell win his NBA rings?

Bill Russell was renowned for his mental agility and athletic prowess. He was intelligent, well-read, and still ranks among the most recognized game legends today. In 13 NBA seasons, while playing for the Boston Celtics, Bill Russell collected 11 rings. With the Boston Celtics, Bill Russell won championships in 1967, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, and 1969.

In 13 NBA seasons, these 11 championships were attained. In other words, Bill Russell won an NBA title around 85% of the time he played in the NBA. Some may contend that Coach Auerbach, Bob Cousy, or any other future Hall of Famers who played with Bill Russell are to credit for the numerous titles Bill Russell has won.

Before Bill Russell moved to Boston, the Celtics had never been to the NBA Finals. They failed to advance to the Finals despite having Coach Auerbach, Bill Sharman, Bob Cousy, and several future Hall of Famers.

With players like Cousy, Sharman, and Coach Auerbach on the team, the Celtics effectively lost 4 straight games in 1962 when Russell missed 4 straight contests. Due to an injury, Bill missed 5 straight games in 1969, and the Celtics lost 0-5 at that time. Sam Jones, John Havlicek, and other Hall of Famers were playing while all of this was occurring.

The two worst losing streaks of the “Russell-Celtics” were the two that I highlighted. This demonstrates what? This demonstrates that Bill Russell was primarily responsible for the Celtics’ success and 11 championship rings.

One of the best rebounders in NBA history, Bill Russell was also incredibly decisive when it came to winning games. Bill Russell became the first NBA player to ever average more than 20 rebounds per game in his first complete season. But he didn’t just accomplish this once; during the course of his 13-year NBA career, he did it ten times. This indicates that over about 80% of his career, he averaged more than 20 rebounds each game.
